Monitoring for psychosocial problems among children and youth

 

Measure Description

Percentage of children from 3 to 17 years of age who are receiving a psychiatric or behavioral health intake visit AND who demonstrated a reliable change in parent-reported problem behaviors 2 to 10 months after initial positive screen for externalizing and internalizing behavior problems.  

 

Denominator

DENOMINATOR:
All patients aged 3 to 17 years of age receiving a psychiatric or behavioral intake visit and an Index Pediatric Symptom Checklist Externalizing Subscale (PSC-ES) score above 6 or an Index Pediatric Symptom Checklist Internalizing Subscale (PSC-IS) score above 4 during the measurement period.

Pediatric Symptom Checklist Externalizing Subscale (PSC-ES) score above 6 points at index
OR
Pediatric Symptom Checklist Internalizing Subscale (PSC-IS) score above 4 points at index

AND a follow-up PSC score during the measurement period

Numerator

NUMERATOR:

Patients who demonstrated a Response to Treatment as indicated by a positive improvement of 2 or more points on the PSC-ES or PSC-IS assessments taken 2 to 10 months later.

None

Denominator Exceptions

Patients who present an acute condition or crisis during the intake visit who are not administered a behavior problem screener. (Pro2005.2_Ex )
